Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Salaried GP to join our expanding friendly team at our two practices, one on the stunning Suffolk Coast and one a rural Practice on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

Main duties of the job

Provides high-quality patient care

Conduct surgery, telephone and video consultations, plus occasional home visits

Liaise with colleagues and external providers to ensure seamless care

Investigate and refer patients appropriately, in line with guidance

Review results and correspondence promptly

Provider cover for colleagues when required

Collect and review data for audit and QOF purposes

Maintain excellent communication with patients and carers

Attend clinical, governance and educational meetings

Work collaboratively and effectively within the team

Manage your own workload and resources effectively

Attend required training events and feedback sessions

Report and follow up on significant events

Bungay Medical Practice and Sole Bay Health Centre provides the highest quality healthcare to patients.

We are part of the SWAN Primary Care Network sharing clinicians and resources and working collaboratively to deliver best care for our patients

  • 12 appointments per session - made up of face to face, telephone calls and GP bookable only
  • £12.5k+ per session
  • Half day duty Doctor - never do a dreaded full day of Dr again! Duty Dr Support of skilled ANP team providing on the day urgent care cover
  • Low GP visit numbers - Complex Care Team/Community Matrons who cover visits
  • Daily coffee break and weekly MDT meetings

Our teams consists of:-

  • 4 GP partners, 1 Managing partner
  • 6 Salaried GPs
  • 6 ANPS
  • 7 Nurses and 5 HCAs
  • Complex Care Team; 3 Community Matrons, 1 Paramedic and 1 Admiral Dementia Nurse
  • 2 Clinical Pharmacists and 3 Technicians
  • Experienced Dispensing Teams at both sites

Job responsibilities

  • Provide high quality patient care including prevention, screening, treatment, management of chronic conditions and health promotion
  • Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice protocols, as well as wider guidance eg NICE
  • Carry out surgery, telephone and video consultations and undertake home visits
  • Speak to and see patients promptly and in a timely manner, in order to minimise waiting times
  • Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
  • Generate, check and sign acute and repeat prescriptions, in line with Practice policy
  • Transfer patients, where appropriate, to the repeat dispensing system
  • Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries
  • Investigate and refer patients as appropriate, in line with current guidance
  • Deal promptly with results and correspondence, clearly communicating any actions that are required
  • Provide cover as needed, for all of the above, when other GPs are on leave
  • When providing care ensure the judicious use of resources and NHS funds
  • Keep clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes and patient records to agreed standards and in line with Practice policies
  • Collect data for audit and QOF purposes
  • Prescribe generically whenever appropriate and in accordance with the Practice formulary, commissioning and national guidance
