Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive Health Care Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our friendly team. This is a part-time vacancy working 17hrs per week on Thursday and Friday.
Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality care to patients under the supervision of the Senior Practice Nurse.
Perform phlebotomy, BP checks, wound care, administer injections and vaccinations, diabetic foot checks and health checks, and assist with procedures as directed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.

We are a GP Training Practice caring for around 14,000 patients, situated just a short walk from Wakefield city centre and only a short distance from the M1.
You will be part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team that includes 6 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 4 Practice Nurses, a Healthcare Assistant, and a Phlebotomist, all supported by an experienced Reception and Admin team.

The HCA/Phlebotomist will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care, including:
Obtaining patient consent for the collection of blood samples
Phlebotomy
Blood pressure monitoring
Height and weight monitoring (incl BMI)
Flu vaccinations (under PSD)
Wound care
NHS Health Checks
Injections (under PSD)
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
Chaperoning duties
Maintaining accurate patient records
Support and participate in shared learning within the Practice
Follow infection control procedures
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing

- Experience in a clinical setting is essential, with an understanding of medical terminology.
