Job summary
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a newly qualified
GP to join our supportive and forward-thinking team at Park Medical Centre,
part of Chester East PCN. This role is offered under the Additional Roles
Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) and is ideal for a GP within 2 years of CCT who has
not yet held a substantive post.
Main duties of the job
- 4 to 6 sessions per week (inclusive of CPD)
- Must be within 2 years of CCT and not have held a substantive salaried role
- Employed under the BMA Model Contract
- Participation in Enhanced Access required
- Starting salary:£10,000 per session

Park Medical Centre is a thriving, training-accredited GP practice in Hoole, Chester, serving over 10,000 patients. We are proud members of Chester East Primary Care Network, working collaboratively with three other practicesBoughton Health Centre, Heath Lane Medical Centre, and Upton Village Surgerycovering a combined population of around 37,000.
Our dynamic multidisciplinary team includes:
- 5 GP Partners & 2 Salaried GPs
- 2 ANPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate & 2 GP Assistants
- Clinical Pharmacist & Pharmacy Technician
- First Contact Physiotherapist & Mental Health Practitioner
We foster a truly supportive work environment, with daily huddles, an open-door culture, and a strong administrative and operational team. We use EMIS Web, Docman, and PACO systems and are a low-visiting practice with no care home responsibilities.
GP appointments are 15 minutes in length, with 12 to 13 patient contacts per session. These are a mix of face-to-face consultations, telephone appointments, and follow-ups. Ours is a low-visiting practice, and we do not provide care to any CQC-registered care homes.

- Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care in line with the core responsibilities of a GP within primary care.
- Deliver services aligned with the GMS contract, as well as Direct and Local Enhanced Services.
- Exercise professional autonomy in managing patients, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
- Manage long-term conditions effectively, in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
- Prescribe medications in line with the practice formulary, using generic options where clinically appropriate.
- Complete administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptions, and patient correspondence.
- Participate in the duty doctor rota
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive clinical records in accordance with best practice and regulatory guidance.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing equally to the shared workload of the practice.
- Take delegated responsibility for specific clinical areas or Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) domains.
- Adhere to clinical best practice, including guidance from NICE and local audits.
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to practice-wide quality initiatives.
- Engage fully with the appraisal and revalidation processes, ensuring compliance with GMC requirements.
- Take an active role in the education and support of medical students and trainees from a range of clinical backgrounds.
- Work with the partnership team to support strategic objectives, contributing ideas to improve efficiency, enhance services, and ensure financial sustainability.
