Main duties of the job

As our new receptionist, you'll be the face of our practice, offering a warm welcome to patients and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Job responsibilities

The team member will be working their hours across 4 to 5 days Monday to Friday, covering a mixture of 8am-130pm and 130pm-630pm shifts

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Process online connect requests for appointments
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
  • Action all incoming emails
  • Signpost patients to the correct service
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
  • Process all DNA letters in accordance with current policy
  • Action tasks
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
  • Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
  • Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
  • Direct/ complete all queries (including administrative queries) as necessary in an efficient manner
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
  • Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
  • Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
  • Support administrative and reception staff, providing cover during staff absences
  • Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the staff rota

  • Customer service experience ideally from a healthcare setting

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a GP practice

Qualifications

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • All other experience considered

  • Trained and confident in SystmOne
