Job summary
George Clare Surgery is a three
partner part-dispensing practice in the Fens in Cambridgeshire. The practice
list size is currently 12000 patients.
Our Mission Statement: We are
committed to ensuring our patients and staff live happy, healthy lives.
Chatteris historically was the centre
of the potato and carrot growing industry in Britain. The demographics of the
population have changed over recent years and the town is now home to a more
varied population including commuters and workers from overseas. The population
has increased markedly and we have a high incidence of chronic diseases.
We introduced electronic medical
records in 1987 and in 1989 we commenced training registrars which at the time
was a first in South Fenland. The original surgery which itself had been
purpose built in 1948, was too small for the rapidly growing population and we
moved into our new premises in 1994.
Our new building also housed two shop
units, one which continues to be a chemist and the other was an Opticians which
has now become office space to deal with the increasing administration which we
have to do.
Main duties of the job
Telephone, face to face or video appointments with patients and
occasional home visits
A share of the administration attributed to the patients at the
practice, including letters, tasks, prescription queries, Accurx and other
reports
Able to use SystmOne
We would support the development of specialist interests - where aligned
with the needs of the Practice
Support in the training and debriefing of GP Registrars
Half day duty doctor sessions
Have a patient list and complete associated administrative duties
About us
We have an excellent practice team
and we place great emphasis on trying to ensure the health and welfare of our
staff. We have regular meetings within and between departments including a
monthly staff meeting for all staff where all views are listened to and issues
arising are discussed and addressed.
We are all aware of the
stresses on General Practice and endeavour to work hard whilst remaining a
supportive and friendly work environment.
All our GPs and ANPs contribute in
their own way working with their individual strengths and interests. Each of us
takes on a designated role and attends meetings related to their specific area
and shares the information with the team. Our nurses and HCAs also have areas
of interest and are involved in chronic health management. We are very lucky to
have an outstanding team with our receptionists, dispensers/pharmacy team,
social prescribers, physio and administration staff working extremely hard to
ensure we provide responsive and safe care to our patients.
