Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Dispenser to join our team at Ashcroft Surgery.
This is a key role within the practice, responsible for supporting the smooth and safe day-to-day running of the dispensary. You will work closely with the Practice Manager, GPs and the wider team to ensure an efficient, well-organised and high-quality dispensing service for our patients.
As Lead Dispenser, you will provide support and guidance to the dispensary team, help manage workload and processes, and act as a point of contact for queries and problem-solving within the dispensary. You will play an important role in maintaining high standards, improving systems, and ensuring the dispensary runs effectively.
We are looking for someone who is experienced, organised and confident in their role, with a proactive and supportive approach to teamwork. This is an opportunity to take on additional responsibility within a well-established practice that values a positive working environment and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the dispensary, ensuring prescriptions are processed safely, efficiently and in line with practice procedures. The role includes supporting and guiding team members, managing workload, resolving queries, and working closely with clinicians and the wider practice team.
You will also take responsibility for maintaining stock control, supporting safe dispensing processes, and contributing to the ongoing organisation and improvement of the dispensary. This is a varied role requiring strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
