Job summary
We are a fast growing GP medical practice with over 7000 patients, with 4 GPs, a practice nurse and an Health Care Assistant with excellent admin team. We would like to add to our front office reception team with someone who can bring experience and teamwork to our busy reception team. We are one of the largest providers of minor surgery in Brent and will require someone who can work at a fast pace and under pressure but who can still smile and offer good customer service. We believe that our patients deserve the best care possible despite all the constraints within the NHS. We are housed within the modern purpose built NHS property building with very good facilities, on site permit parking, staff room, kitchennette and good male and female toilet facilities. All our office staff are trained to the same standard to cover sickness and absence. Full induction and training will be provided. Emisweb experience is preferable.
Main duties of the job
Answering the telephone.
Booking patient appointments with the GPs/ nurse.
Doing patients referrals to the hospital.
Scanning.
Various Admin.
About us
Reception Team Leader has been with the practice since 2016 led by Shahla Jamal since 2010. The practice works like a family and treats each with respect at all times. There is an open door policy where all staff can speak to the any of the doctors during the day.
There are 4 reception staff that cover using a rota system Monday to Friday 8am-6:30pm, no weekends. Everybody is very helpful and flexible, the rota is completed 1 month in advance.
We are looking for somebody who has a good work ethic, flexible and mature and who will be equally treated with respect and flexibilty.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Phones must be answered within 6 rings and no more. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Be polite and helpful at ALL times. If a patients behaviour becomes unacceptably abusive refer the call to your line manager. Do not shout or respond in a rude manner to the patient.
- Keep your working environment clean, tidy and free from clutter at all times.
- Ensure that you provide an efficient, professional and detailed handover to the member of staff taking over from you before you leave your duty.
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately, this should be on the same day that they attend the practice to register.
- Communicate effectively with other team members.
