Job summary

We are seeking an Administrator to join our dynamic team at Whaddon Healthcare. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the daily operations of our GP practice, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of our healthcare services in Bletchley.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for scanning, prescriptions, dealing with enquires and receipt/dispatch of correspondence. A high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, discretion, and tact is required in this role.

Whaddon Healthcare is an innovative, well established CQC rated Outstanding GP Practice which also provides a range of specialist Community Services including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gynaecology and BLMK Long Covid Service.

We work over two purpose-built sites in Bletchley with a list size of 22,000 and growing.

Job responsibilities

Working Hours

Working hours are 37.5 per week, working pattern 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Location

Whaddon Healthcare has two sites - Whaddon Medical Centre, MK3 7QU and Water Eaton Health Centre, MK2 3HN.

Medical Admin Duties:

  • Undertake administrative duties including opening post, scanning letters, document processing, read coding, photocopying, sending out mail/distributing mail.
  • Delivering the administrative aspects of prescription issuance to ensure the safe prescribing of medicines.
  • Provide an efficient administration service as part of team to ensure the smooth running of the prescription support to our clinicians.
  • To receive and deal with telephone, in person and other enquiries regarding prescriptions from patients, clinicians and other staff members.
  • Any other duties that may be reasonably expected of the post holder for the provision of services as directed by the Practice Manager

Experience

Essential

  • Previous Administrator experience
  • Experience working in an environment with direct contact with the public
  • Experience working with database systems

Desirable

  • Experience in a GP Practice or Health Care Organisation
  • Knowledge of clinical databases including Systm1
  • Read-coding/clinical-coding knowledge & or experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience of using Medical Terminologies.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Education to GCSE level, NVQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Administrative qualification
  • Hold a UK Driving License
