Job summary

CB1 is a well-established community pharmacy located in the heart of Leicester, dedicated to providing exceptional pharmaceutical care and services to our community. We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Pharmacist Dispenser to join our team and contribute to our commitment to health and wellness.

As a Pharmacist Dispenser, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective dispensing of medications. You will work closely with the pharmacy team to deliver excellent customer service and maintain compliance with the latest pharmaceutical regulations and standards.

Main duties of the job

  • Accurately dispense prescribed medications to patients and provide advice on the safe use of medicines.
  • Ensure all prescriptions are checked for accuracy and appropriateness before dispensing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and ensure compliance with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards and other relevant legislation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, offering guidance and answering queries from patients regarding their medications and health-related issues.
  • Assist with the management and ordering of pharmaceutical stock, ensuring adequate inventory levels and minimizing waste.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training to keep abreast of changes in pharmacy practice and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and patient interactions in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Support the pharmacy team in achieving sales and service targets while promoting health and wellness services offered by the pharmacy.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinically checking prescriptions for CBMP.

Ensuring imported CBMP is available for patients in a timely manner.

Ensuring all regulations are met with respect to ordering, receiving, storing, and supplying CBMP.

Maintaining the necessary records required for CBMP to GPHC standards.

Ensure patients have the relevant information and counselling to use CBMP safely, including advice on using equipment such as vaporisors.

Providing advice on availability of CBMP to all prescribers to minimise disruption of supply to patients.

Work with various stakeholders to ensure supply of CBMP is as safe as possible, including importers and CDAO.

To maintain security of CBMP whilst working as a Responsible Pharmacist.

Supervise the work of other pharmacy colleagues.

Remote consultations with patients who have already been prescribed CBPM and need regular monitoring and follow up

Work closely with consultants and other clinicians as part of an MDT team to manage and monitor safe prescribing in line with guidelines.

Work closely with partner medical service to ensure smooth transition from CB1 Medical to CB1 Pharmacy.

Maintaining regular communication with CB1 Medical to mitigate risks that may arise.

Work with the Pharmacy Superintendent and Head of Governance to manage and develop policies relating to medicines management, prescribing audit, and other relevant policies.

Manage the repeat prescribing process by reviewing patient requests for repeat prescriptions and reviewing medicines reaching review dates and flagging up those needing a review.

Undertake clinical audits of prescribing.

Maintain patients electronic health records.

Implement changes to medicines that result from MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other local and national guidance.

To contribute to the efficient running and profitability of the service by monitoring and auditing of medicines

Attend weekly operations meetings as required.

Overlook issuing of all prescriptions from the weekly MDT with Specialist consultants.

Ensure processes are in place to provide smooth patient journey from the prescribing of CBMP to the delivery of CBMP.

Providing regular contact with patient to inform them of their CBMP prescription.

Having robust processes and looking to always improve the service for the patient.

Excellent customer service skills and providing exceptional service to patients.

Reviewing monthly financial and clinical data and working with wholesalers to improve profit margin.

Aware of commercial aims and objectives aims of the company.

To maintain all mandatory training and familiarity with company policies and SOPS
