Job summary

We at Church Lane Surgery in Boroughbridge are offering an excellent opportunity for a reliable and flexible individual to join our busy dispensary team.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a team providing a professional and effective dispensing service to patients, following business policies and procedures, always ensuring accuracy.

About us

We are a rural practice, with over 11,000 patients, working from a modern purpose-built premises.

We are also a training practice with a wide multidisciplinary team including first contact physiotherapists, a PCN pharmacy team, Health & Wellbeing Coach, Social Prescriber, Paramedic and an in-house dispensary.

Job description

Job responsibilities

This is a permanent position, weekly hours detailed below, with as soon as possible/immediate start date.

Mon

8.30am 6.30pm

Tues

9.30am 5.30pm

Weds

8.00am - 12.30pm

Thurs

8.00pm - 5.30pm

Fri

8.30am 4.00pm

Total Hrs 37.5

Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive list:

Leading and managing a team within our Dispensary, providing day to day support, leadership, first line supervision, guidance and motivation

Ensuring the Dispensary Services Quality Scheme (DSQS), Standard Operating Procedures are always adhered to and the team maintain full competency.

Sorting prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms and submitting prescriptions monthly to the NHS Prescription Services; preparing vaccine list; dealing with prescriptions returned by the NHS Prescription Services.

Maintain and develop relationships with wholesalers/suppliers

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvements, development and quality initiatives within the practice.

Attend and contribute to weekly clinical meetings and other practice meetings.

Support the partners in achieving strategic aims, including enhancing income and reducing expenditure of the practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GSCE level or equivalent including Mathematics and English (C or above)
  • NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services Skills or equivalent
  • Experience in supervising/managing staff
  • Willing to undertake specialist training
  • Experience of working with Word and Excel
  • Experience in a patient or customer service facing role
  • Able to undertake relevant research and present possible solutions to issues
  • Experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Effective time management and prioritisation (planning & organising)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to follow policy and procedure

Desirable

  • Previous experience of general practice (this is an advantage but not essential as training will be given)
  • SystmOne user skills (desirable but full training will be given)
  • Experience of Primary Care
  • Population health awareness
