Practice Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join Holly Tree Surgery, a dynamic and forward-thinking dispensing GP practice located in the beautiful semi-rural area of south Farnham on the Hampshire and Surrey border.

In the catchment area of South Farnham School, ranked one of the best in the country and other excellent schools. We are part of Farnham and Surrey Heath Place which is being incorporated into Surrey Heartlands ICB. Purpose built surgery with own dispensary which dispenses to 64% of our 6,500 patients. GMS.

Excellent IT infrastructure: EMIS Web, ANIMA, TITAN, E-cass, electronic prescribing, accuRx, DXS, Docman10, Lexacom dictation, eRS, ICE links to Frimley Park Hospital.

We are a busy GP practice looking to recruit a Practice Nurse who is compassionate, resilient, has sound communication skills and is a big team player.

This is a permanent part time role for 24 hours; Working hours can be negotiable.

At a rate of £25.17 per hour

Main duties of the job

  • Cervical cytology
  • Wound care / ulcer care / dopplers
  • Removal of sutures
  • Travel Clinics( desirable)

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the nursing team are varied and will differ from time to time under the direction of the Partners, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:

  • Implement, evaluate and manage individual treatment plans for patients who have a chronic condition.
  • Assess and care for patients presenting with wounds.
  • Undertake cytology clinics.
  • Advise support and where appropriate, administer vaccinations for patients travelling abroad.
  • Assist with minor surgery and contraceptive clinics.
  • Administer vaccinations for baby immunisations and assist with baby clinics.
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations.
  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; scanning, processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers where appropriate.
  • Assist with management of nursing supplies and stock maintenance.
  • Support and advise patients requesting information relating to family planning needs.
  • Supplies and equipment Treatment room and other areas.
  • Ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care.
  • Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures.
  • Following appropriate training, undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc. and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used.
  • Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
