Job summary

Due to the upcoming retirement of our Managing Partner, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Finance and Business Manager to join Holly Tree Surgery, a dynamic and forward-thinking dispensing GP practice located in the beautiful semi-rural area of south Farnham on the Hampshire and Surrey border.

In the catchment area of South Farnham School, ranked one of the best in the country and other excellent schools. We are part of Farnham and Surrey Heath Place which is being incorporated into Surrey Heartlands ICB. Purpose built surgery with own dispensary which dispenses to more than half of our 6,500 patients. GMS.

We are seeking a strategic, commercially astute professional to take the lead on financial management and business operations at a pivotal time in our development.

This is a key leadership role within the practice and a unique chance to make a real impact, not only on the performance of the organisation, but on the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to ensure financial sustainability and operational excellence.

Support the development and delivery of clear plans and measurable goals that align with the practice's vision and future growth.

Design and implement robust systems to maximise income, monitor financial performance, and manage cost efficiencies.

Oversee all funding streams including GMS contracts, Enhanced Services, QOF, other income, and private services.

Ensure timely submission of claims and effective financial reporting in line with NHS and statutory requirements.

Ensure the practice meets all financial, legal, and quality standards required by the NHS and external regulators.

Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams to support a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability.

  • Proficient in data analysis, and decision support tools
  • Proven experience of working with Xero or similar accounting software
  • Experience of financial planning and forecasting
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects

Desirable

  • Strong understanding of NHS finance and general practice operations, or a demonstrable ability to learn quickly
  • Experience in primary care, commissioning, or other NHS organisations
  • Knowledge of CQC requirements and quality improvement frameworks
  • Previous involvement in practice development or change management projects

  • Educated to degree level in healthcare or business
  • Excellent standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • AAT Accounting Qualification or similar

Desirable

  • Strong understanding of NHS finance and general practice operations, or a demonstrable ability to learn quickly
  • Experience in primary care, commissioning, or other NHS organisations
  • Knowledge of CQC requirements and quality improvement frameworks
  • Previous involvement in practice development or change management projects
