Main duties of the job

Salaried GP role for 4-6 sessions per week. Clinical sessions consist of telephone consultations and face to face appointments. Our care navigators are highly skilled to direct patients to the most appropriate service

About us

Springfields Medical Centre is an average sized practice in the centre of Warrington Town. We are a multi-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical team ensuring patients are seen by the most appropriate clinican. Patients can be navigated to multiple roles with the PCN.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Salaried GP contract based on BMA contract and agreed job plan.

Salary based on experience per session.

Clinics are made up of telephone consultations and face to face appointments.

Duties

The duties are subject to at least annual review and amendment by mutual agreement.

The morning surgery will be 30 mins of telephone consultations and 2 hours of face to face consultations with appropriate gaps for catch-up time if required with consideration that this may be extended up to a 3 hour surgery if demand applies. This is then followed by 1 hour of administration to include prescriptions, prescription queries, correspondence/paperwork and share of visits

The afternoon surgery will be 30mins of telephone consultations and 2 hours face to face consultations. This is then followed by correspondence/paperwork and emergency visits if on call.

The practice operates a duty Dr rota which will require one day per week per GP (with additional days at times of colleagues annual leave/sick leave). On Call duties include responding to appropriate urgent requests or queries from patients or 3rd parties such as practice/district nurse or secondary care. Duty Doctor must respond appropriately to requests for visits after 1pm.

Sessions of work reserved for continuing personal development (in-house/private study/educational events etc.): 1 session per month (WTE)

Annual safeguarding training session

Annual CPR training session

Any other aspects of the work arrangements:

Prescribe to PANMersey Guidelines

Follow appropriate referral pathways including 2 week wait referrals (e.g: OCATS, Dermatology, Telederm)

Action pathology results, signing prescriptions, completing referrals ideally the same day

Familiarise and follow Warrington Safeguarding procedures

Familiarise and follow guidelines in the staff handbook

Adhere to information governance guidelines (smartcard security, data protection)

Adhere to practice protocols (held on shared computer drive)

Working with the practice to meet targets for QOF and enhanced services during routine surgery sessions.

Maintaining a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD activites)

Maintain the good reputation of the practice.
