Job summary

Are you a GP looking to join a growing practice in modern premises with a fantastic team?

We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our friendly cohesive team from June 2025, for 2-4 sessions a week, with potential to increase in the future.

Applications for Salaried position, as part of a Portfolio career or from newly qualified GPs are welcomed. A view to partnership in the future will also be considered. We are not currently a visa-sponsoring practice; however, would be open to undergoing this for the right candidate.

We are a single site, APMS practice based in modern premises in the new town of Cranbrook, on the outskirts of Exeter. We have a growing list size of 5982 patients which will continue to grow over the next 5 years. We are easily accessible from the M5 and A38.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the APMS contract.

Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

We are a high QOF achieving, innovative with digital ways of working and supportive practice. We are an active member of the Outer Exeter PCN and a teaching practice for 3rd & 4th year UEMS Students.

We use SystmOne as our clinical system, with Ardens Pro and AccuRx.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the APMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
