Job summary

You will play a crucial role in helping people get the right support at the right time, helping to ensure patients are referred into the right service.

You will be working alongside our doctors and psychologists. You need to like interacting with people, be able to prioritise your workload and be confident with computers. You must have a professional approach to your work, be confident, assertive and have excellent communication skills. Training will be provided to equip the job holder with the necessary skills.

You will be required to work a 36 hour week.

The position is available as soon as you can start. Salary will be according to experience.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient and comprehensive referral administration service to the Partners, salaried GPs, Retainer doctor, locum doctors, Counselling Psychologist and Trainee Psychologist employed by the Practice.

Each has its own list, dynamics, and character.We team up for peer support and education, with common back-office systems so you would be expected to work across systems for more than one practice.In this way, we achieve more together than we could separately.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Creating all referral letters and clinical correspondence. Ensure that all letters are authorised and despatched (with previous correspondence where appropriate) within 5 working days or 48 hours if urgent. Email or post correspondence when signed

Referral administration including chasing appointments, results and clinic letters, safety netting and spreadsheet management

Typing of any correspondence associated with Social Services, the Housing Department, Insurance Company medical reports. Ensure that all relevant documentation (including request letter from 3rd party and response from doctor) is passed back to senior practice administrator for issue of invoices etc. in accordance with practice policy

Typing of Psychologist referral letters and reports

Handling telephone calls, message taking and any other organisational duties related to providing a team administration service

Photocopying of any documents on request

Despatch of all Group Practice post.

Dealing with franking machine equipment, uploading updates when needed, ordering of supplies for the franking machine

Overseeing practice document templates and ensuring they are up to date

Managing EMIS tasks related to referrals

Dealing with eRS worklists related to referral letters

Assist in formatting/design of any ad hoc projects

Qualifications

  • GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Typing minimum speed 60 wpm
  • Good spelling and communication skills

Desirable

  • EMIS web experience
  • Previous health service/General Practice experience
