Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to enhance our clinical teams across our three practices. By offering you mentoring and support in our friendly, forwarding thinking and supportive environment this will enable you to develop your clinical skills and progress within our locality.

The ability to deliver high quality care by initial presentation, assessment and the confidence to diagnose, treat and evaluate are paramount in this role

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake initial telephone triage, necessary face to face appointments, home visiting for both acute and chronic presentations, action and reviewing of clinical correspondence; whilst assisting with direct patient care for all morbidities

Annual Leave commencing with 24 days holiday, plus bank holidays (pro-rata)

About us

Aelfgar, Brereton and Hazeldene House Surgeries are seeking a Physician Associate to join the expanding healthcare team within our PCN. The postholder would be expected to work across the three GP Practices; Aelfgar and Brereton Surgeries in Rugeley and Hazeldene House Surgery in Great Haywood.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As Physician Associate, you will work as part of the Team using a wide range of the skills you have including (but not limited to) :

  • Patient Consultations

· Care planning

  • Supporting GPs with managing results
  • Supporting GPs with their paperwork

As the Physician Associate you will act within your professional boundaries, providing care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a GP

You will show safe clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice, in consultation with the duty GP. You will work with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of patients

Supervision and mentoring will be provided by the appropriate senior medical staff - the type of support will depend on the post holder’s skills and knowledge and determined by our clinical governance arrangements

You will have annual appraisals and continuing professional development as provided set out by the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA).

  • Experience of offering mentorship and supervision to other nursing staff
  • Experience of developing and implementing training programmes
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework

Qualifications

  • MSc/Pg Dip Physicians Associate Studies
  • Preferably a teaching and assessing qualification
  • Must be a member of the faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the PA MVR until such time that statutory regulation of PAs is achieved
  • Current and valid certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination
  • Maintains CPD requirements of 50 hours per year as per FPARCP guidance
  • Ability to work cohesively within the multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to adhere to regulations as well as work flexibly to meet the needs of the Practice
  • Clinical examination skills
  • Developing care plans with patients and carers
  • Management of patients with common acute medical conditions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
