Job summary

We are a busy GP surgery based in Morley looking to recruit a part time Medical Secretary to join our friendly team. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, professional with excellent audio secretarial skills and medical terminology We are offering part time hours over 5 days Monday - Friday ( 5 hours daily) between 8:00am - 5:30pm. Flexibility is required to cover for holidays and sickness and if necessary be able to swap shifts .

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who is hard working, professional with excellent customer service skills who is used to working in a busy environment. Someone who is willing to work as part of a team but can also use their own initiative where necessary.

Provide a comprehensive secretarial, typing and administrative support to the partnership and management team.

Basic knowledge of system one required. Previous experience of working in a GP surgery desirable.

The atmosphere is friendly, hardworking and supportive across the whole practice. We work as one big team which consists of reception, admin, nursing, prescription, secretarial and GP's.

We are a SystmOne practice based in Morley and our last CQC rating was good.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Use of Lexicom and coordinating control of the dictation system.

Typing of referral letters to the hospitals, GPs etc.

Logging all referrals and updating Systm One.

Arranging urgent hospital referrals.

Coordinating the Choose & Book system monitoring / attaching / queries.

Typing amendments to practice clinical guideline documents when necessary (liaising with the Quality Administrator).

Typing up of the minutes taken at the Wednesday lunchtime clinical team meetings.

Dealing with all patient enquiries regarding hospital referrals etc.

Photocopying.

Miscellaneous typing work for GPs as requested.

Work as an effective team member and participate in team meetings that create opportunities to improve service levels.

Participate in induction training for new starters when applicable.

Liaise with others as necessary to ensure the provision of efficient internal and external support required to achieve objectives.

Prioritise, organise and manage workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality and achieves objectives.

Work safely and securely at all times in accordance with legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.

  • Good standard of general education
  • GCSE Mathematics C or above
  • GCSE English C or above
  • RSA III or equivalent speed and accuracy
  • Qualification in Customer Care
  • Minimum of 2 years experience of working/knowledge in General Practice
  • Experience and working knowledge of SystmOne
  • Excellent communication skills (Written and Oral)
  • Friendly and professional telephone manner
  • Time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to work and adapt in a changing environment and to drive change within a team
  • Interpersonal skills- ability to communicate in a caring and professional manner
  • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft office including MS teams
