Job summary

Are you looking to take the next step in your NHS career? Do you aspire to become a Practice Manager in the future? We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our friendly and forward-thinking 6,000-patient GP practice in Blackpool as a Trainee Assistant Practice Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in practice management, with full training and mentoring provided. You will work closely with the Practice Manager and wider team to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day running of a busy GP surgery.

  • A strong interest in developing a career in GP practice management
  • Experience working in the NHS is preferred; experience in primary care is highly desirable
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to working in a dynamic healthcare setting
  • Willingness to learn and take on responsibility as training progresses

Main duties of the job

A trainee assistant practice manager in a GP surgery typically supports the practice manager in the day-to-day operations and management of the practice, with a focus on staff management, patient services, and administrative tasks.

Abbey-Dale Medical Centre is a GP surgery located in Blackpool, Lancashire. We are an accredited Veteran Friendly GP Practice and are part of the Blackpool South primary care network. Our surgery provides a range of services including general medical care, vaccinations, social prescribing, mental health reviews, podiatry and much more.

  • Experience of performance management, including appraisal writing, staff development and disciplinary procedures.
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects.
  • NHS/Primary Care general practice experience.
  • Relevant health and safety experience.
