Due to promotion we are looking for an efficient and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic administration team as an Administrator/Coder/Medical secretary. This is a permanent position for full time hours or close. Start and finish times are flexible.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of General Practice administration, coding/summarising or Medical secretarial work. Whilst most of our administration activity takes place at our Manor House Lane site, the post holder may be required to work at our other site in Marston Green, so ideally will have own transport.

This is a demanding and busy role and the days fly by, so you will need to be quick thinking and tenacious, but also kind and understanding. Working in a great team of clinical and non clinical colleagues, we need you to be friendly, flexible and used to using your initiative as well as working closely with colleagues.

Job Summary:

Working within an administrative team

1. Prepare and send practice letters and patient correspondence

2. Making and updating Patient referrals

3. Read and assess emails, website and other correspondence to establish actions and recording required.

4. Accurate and timely coding of patient information gathered from paper and electronic medical records, as well as correspondence received from other healthcare providers.

5. Follow up actions from correspondence based on internal processes and protocols that will ensure that patients receive the most appropriate services and continuity of care.

6. Working closely with internal clinical and administrative staff to ensure optimal levels of patient care and timely follow up actions.

7. Preparing and giving access to patients to view their medical/clinical records.

8. Processing and summarising of patient records as part of the registration and deduction process for new and leaving patients.

9. Other miscellaneous administrative tasks, for example, audits, ordering, file collation, patient call in contacts and follow up.

10. Tasks and elements of the job description may be varied with changing needs and technologies.
