Job summary

Fuller and Forbes Healthcare Group provides innovative, patient-focused primary care services to over 130,000 patients across surgeries in Leeds, Gateshead, Plymouth, North Devon, Exeter, and Burnley. As part of our digital transformation journey, we are launching SMARTconsult, a dynamic, customisable online consultation system tailored to each GP surgerys needs. This follows our successful deployment of eConsultation services and responds to the NHS mandate for all GP surgeries to have an online consultation platform by October.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking proactive, technically competent, and people-focused individuals to join our SMARTconsult Back-End Implementation and Support Team. You will play a critical role in supporting the national rollout of SMARTconsult by onboarding GP surgeries, customising local platforms, training practice staff, and maintaining operational excellence.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Configure and tailor SMARTconsult platforms for individual GP surgeries, activating only the consultation types relevant to their needs.

Collaborate with clinical leads and administrative staff to understand and implement custom workflows.

Lead remote and on-site onboarding sessions for GP surgery teams.

Deliver training to clinical and non-clinical staff on the usage and benefits of SMARTconsult.

Provide comprehensive documentation and user guidance.

Manage activation and deactivation of systems as required per surgery schedules and policies.

Ensure smooth handover post-implementation to support channels.

Track platform usage metrics and user feedback to identify engagement trends and issues.

Monitor system for performance anomalies, and escalate or troubleshoot any identified errors.

Support quality assurance and contribute to ongoing system improvements.

Act as the liaison between surgeries, internal tech teams, and external partners.

Help surgeries understand the regulatory requirement for online consultation systems and how SMARTconsult meets those standards.

Experience

Desirable

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a healthcare administrative or digital support setting with strong IT skills
  • Evidence of:
  • Using Microsoft Excel for data analysis
  • Delivering training or onboarding
  • Troubleshooting software in a primary care environment

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 Diploma in IT / Computing or equivalent (e.g., BTEC National Diploma, OCR Level 3)
  • OR A Levels with at least one subject in IT, Computing, or Mathematics
  • OR Demonstrable equivalent experience in a healthcare or customer-facing digital support role

Desirable

  • Degree or Foundation Degree in:
  • Information Technology
  • Health Informatics
  • Computer Science
  • Digital Health or similar
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification, especially in Excel
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (useful for those supporting services in structured environments)
  • NHS Digital Academy short courses or CPD modules (if NHS context is crucial)
