Job summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Advanced Nurse
Practitioner to work 2 days a week to include a Friday. The location is primarily at Blaydon GP Surgery but there may be a need to work at Grange Road Medical Centre.Salary is commensurate with these requirements.
Main duties of the job
You will be highly experienced and competent having
completed your advanced practice qualification at masters level as well as your
prescribing qualification, and will be comfortable working autonomously within
a team setting with other Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurse and
Healthcare Assistants. You will also be
comfortable working without a GP onsite and will be well versed in utilisation
escalation processes in regards to the limits of your own clinical
competency.
You will also be able to consult with patients 6 months and
older, with clinical supervision training as required to ensure competency.
You will be independent and work autonomously, proactive,
motivated and approachable by the wider team.
Our planned Saturday service may operate as a walk-in
service for registered patients only with a minimum of two Advanced Nurse Practitioners
at any one time.

The post-holder will have excellent clinical examination
skills, and excellent communication skills.
The post-holder will be able to demonstrate positive
feedback from patients and colleagues, and will be fully compliant with
validation and appraisals.
Applicants must have completed, in full, an advanced
clinical practice qualification to post graduate or masters level including
independent prescribing and have sufficient experience to work autonomously and
independently within a wider team without a GP onsite. You will:
- Act as an independent prescriber (preferred, though will
support training and qualification if needed)
- Consult, diagnose, treat patients with undifferentiated
and undiagnosed conditions
- Consult with both paediatric and adult patients
- Consult independently and autonomously and able to follow an
escalation process without the dependency of immediate access to a GP
- Undertake home visits
- Maximise patient contacts by carrying out vaccinations and
chronic disease management where appropriate and time permits
- Able to demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and
expert care for patients within the general practice.
- Deliver a high standard of patient care using an in-depth
knowledge base with the ability to demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making
and expert care for patients.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary general
practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy
and procedures
