Job summary

Hartshill Health Centre is looking to recruit a Receptionist/Administrator for a very busy practice.

You would ideally have previous Reception/Admin experience. Ability to work using own initiative but also essential to work as part of a team.

You will be the first point of contact for all our patients and visitors and will need to provide a friendly, professional and caring service.

Main duties of the job

The role of receptionist/administrator is a key role to the effective running of the surgery. You will be very busy, answering telephones, speaking to patients and also covering a wide range of administrative tasks. Ability to utilise many different IT programs, liaising with all agencies to provide a safe and efficient service to patients. The role includes opening and closing the surgery.

Job responsibilities

The Receptionist will provide an efficient and effective service for patients and members of the practice. The post holder will ensure that all patients and visitors are welcomed to the practice in a professional manner whilst adhering to the practice data and confidentiality policy.

  • Ensuring reception area is neat and tidy
  • Diary management/ booking of all appointments
  • Liaising with all patients, visitors, consultants and users of the practice
  • General administrative duties such as emailing, filing, posting of letters, prescriptions and daily workload within the reception tasks.
  • Friendly and knowledgeable patient service of the highest standard
  • Greet all patients and create a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere for patients
  • Obtain all patient details promptly and accurately and maintain accurate patient registration from database whilst adhering to Patient Confidentiality and Data Security.
  • Answer all telephone calls promptly
  • Scanning and filing of clinical correspondence

Qualifications

Essential

  • A good standard of GCSE qualifications or equivalent.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Previous experience of reception/administration in the health organisation, or experience in other sectors that can be transferred to a GP setting.

Desirable

  • Good clear and confident communicator
  • Good standard of literacy and IT skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritise own workload
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web and Docman 10
