Job summary

Millway Medical Practice is a large, forward-thinking, high-performing NHS GP practice in Mill Hill, North London. With a patient list of 25,000+ and a growing multidisciplinary team of over 60 staff, we are seeking an experienced and confident Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our dynamic clinical team.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an autonomous clinician managing a broad range of acute presentations and minor illness within general practice. You will be expected to assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe (if qualified), and safely manage patients independently.

The role includes:

  • Assessment and management of minor illness and urgent same-day presentations

  • Independent prescribing (if qualified)

  • Triage and management of acute eConsult requests

  • Clinical documentation and workflow management

  • Undertaking home visits where clinically appropriate

  • Supporting the wider MDT with clinical advice and shared care

  • Working collaboratively with GPs, pharmacists, paramedics and nursing colleagues

Job responsibilities

1. Job Purpose

To work as an autonomous Advanced Nurse Practitioner within Millway Medical Practice, delivering high-quality, safe, evidence-based care to patients presenting with acute and minor illness.

The post holder will assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe (where qualified), and manage patients independently within their scope of practice, contributing to the overall clinical performance and governance of the practice.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice
  • Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis and management of:

    • Minor illness

    • Acute presentations

    • Same-day urgent care needs

  • Undertake independent prescribing (if V300 qualified)

  • Order, interpret and act on diagnostic investigations

  • Provide appropriate safety-netting and follow-up

  • Complete accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation on EMIS Web

  • Participate in clinical triage of online consultation requests (e.g. eConsult)

  • Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate

  • Escalate appropriately to GP colleagues when outside scope or complexity threshold

Digital & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Use EMIS Web proficiently for documentation, workflow and task management

  • Manage and action tasks via Docman

  • Use Accurx for patient communication and clinical messaging

  • Participate in workflow optimisation and digital triage processes

  • Contribute to safe and efficient management of clinical correspondence

Governance & Quality
  • Practice within NMC Code and Advanced Practice competencies

  • Work within practice SOPs and clinical pathways

  • Participate in clinical audits, SEA processes and quality improvement initiatives

  • Maintain up-to-date mandatory training

  • Support CQC compliance and safe practice standards
