Role Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Medical Secretary is to
serve a seamless referral process for patients.
Main duties of the job
The prospective candidate is expected to deliver top-notch
Secretarial and Administrative Services to various stakeholders within the
Practice, including Management, Staff, and Registered Patients. This entails
ensuring that all Medical Secretarial and Administrative tasks meet the
Practice's standards of accuracy and punctuality. Responsibilities also include
planning and executing Practice Procedures for handling Doctors' and other
Clinicians' letters and referrals, maintaining and enhancing recording systems,
and staying current. Additionally, tasks involve managing communications for
Doctors and Clinicians, handling aspects of the electronic Referral System
(eRS), updating essential spreadsheets, and handling queries and appointments
for patients. Furthermore, the role involves managing requests from Solicitors,
ensuring compliance with GDPR in copying patient notes, producing medical
summaries, managing forms, and invoices, as well as staying abreast of referral
system changes. Adherence to Practice Procedures, regulations, and
confidentiality protocols is paramount, including forwarding complaints or
compliments to relevant managers. Understanding and implementing Emergency
Procedures, both medical and non-medical, and ensuring compliance with Health &
Safety regulations, including premises security when working outside of regular
hours, are also integral aspects of the role.
