An exciting vacancy has arisen at The Beeches
Medical Practice Shrewsbury, we are looking for a Practice Nurse to
join our friendly team working four days per week to include a Monday.
The
role is to support the clinical team and administrative teams to ensure nursing services are delivered effectively to the entire patient population, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary
team. The
Practice Nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as infection prevention and control, chronic disease management health promotion, wound management, cervical screening, immunisations, as well as actively supporting the practice management team
in the reviewing and delivery of clinical policy and procedure.
Main duties of the job
There may be, on occasion, a requirement to
carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and
staffing levels:
a.
To support
the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and to work to the IPC Policy providing.
b.
To
manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions,
preventing adverse effects to patients health.
c.
Provide
routine nursing care to patients, including cervical screening, prostap injections
etc in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.
d.
To
request pathology services and process pathology results as required.
e.
To
maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with legislation. To ensure
read codes are used effectively by all members of the nursing team.
f.
To
ensure compliance with the practice chaperone policy.
g.
To
support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies.
h.
To
recognise, assess and refer patients presenting with mental health needs.
i.
To
implement vaccination programmes for adults and children.
j.
To
liaise with external services/agencies to ensure the patient is supported
appropriately (vulnerable patients etc.).
k.
To
support the clinical team with all safeguarding matters, in accordance with
local and national policies.
l. To support the nursing team with all Chronic Disease Management (including Diabetes and Respiratory conditions).
About us
The Beeches Medical Practice is a friendly 4 Partner Practice. We are situated on the south side of Shrewsbury providing medical care for approximately 7,300 people. The practice covers a wide area from Bayston Hill to Leebotwood in the north - south direction and Acton Burnell to Pulverbatch in the east - west direction.
We have two surgeries, Bayston Hill and Dorrington. Dorrington being our dispensing surgery.
We are an efficient and friendly team which includes 4 GP Partners, 1 ANP, a nursing team including a Phlebotomist and Lead Nurse, a Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Dispensary Manager, Care Coordinator, and a team of 11 Medical Administrators, Dispensers and Receptionists.
We are a training practice, and clinicians and staff are very involved in ensuring the trainees gain full experience of all aspects of life in general practice. We look after Medical Students from Keele University and GP Registrars for various timescales.
We use EMIS Web clinical system along with Docman and Teamnet.
