We are looking for a salaried GP to join our small, close-knit and supportive team to work between 5-8 sessions per week.
Bampton Medical Practice is a purpose-built surgery built in the 1990's, with an on-site independent pharmacy. You will be working across 2 sites in Bampton and Carterton.
The ongoing General Practice improvement programme encourages innovative ways to relieve pressures on GP's and staff, and the clinical team meet quarterly for discussion and training.
Bampton Medical Practice is situated in the beautiful
village of Bampton on the edge of the Cotswolds. Bampton was used to film the
outdoor scenes in the TV series, Downton Abbey. The village is famous for its
Morris Dancing traditions and strong community spirit.
We have recently been rated on a Google survey as amongst
the top 10 practices in the country. We also score highly on the NHS patient
survey.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will include:
- Telephone consultations
- Triage of online forms E-consults
- Face-to-face sessions
- Occasional Home visits (Visiting Service does
the majority)

Provide a full range of medical services as
defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where
appropriate.
-
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as
agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety
of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries,
visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and
dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

To record clear and contemporaneous
computer-based consultation notes to agreed standards using EMIS Web.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in
relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other
health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with
undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
-
Screening patients for disease risk factors and
early signs of illness.
-
In consultation with patients and in line with
current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for
health.

Providing counselling and health education.
-
Admitting or discharging patients to and from
the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
-
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation
notes to agreed standards.

Contributing to QOF requirements and recording
data appropriately

Collecting data for audit purposes.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute
and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever
possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the Practices
designated prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically
appropriate.

In general the post holder will be expected to
undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP
working within primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners,
General Medical Council, all other Royal colleges and councils applicable to
the staff within the practice, Department of Health, NHS England, OCCG and all
other regulatory and standard setting organisations.
