We have an exciting opportunity for an Paramedic to join our team.
As a paramedic in a busy GP surgery you would need to work within the Surgery using your skills and clinical judgement to provide a first point of contact for our patients that present to us with minor illness/conditions.
We have 4 Practice Sites. You will be based largely at our 1 or 2 sites regularly with the view of being able to work at other sites when needed.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and committed member to join our supportive, enthusiastic, and friendly team.
General practice experience preferred but not essential.
Main duties of the job
To support and work alongside the GP's who deal with all the acute/on-the-day patients. This role will involve assessment, diagnosis and treatment of these patients who present with undiagnosed conditions.
Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to other community or voluntary services and to self-care.
The Paramedic will conduct home visits and liaise with the medical team at the surgery to discuss the findings and management plan.
When not visiting patients, the Practitioner will support the clinical team with chronic disease management and local and direct enhanced services, including the PCN DES

We are a four-site training practice with 4 GP Partners and 2 salaried GP with a full complement of administration staff, Clinical Pharmacists Physician Associates, and a further range of PCN roles.
We care for over 20,000 patients. We have a very good team ethic at the practice and all work together to ensure high quality care is given to our patients
Due to our now 4 practice sites this enables ease of attendance locally to our patients, a greater number of appointments offered and a wider range of services made available.
Our patients have the option of attending any of our 4 sites situated in CV1, CV2, CV5, CV6 areas of Coventry.

The Paramedic will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary clinical team, to provide service to patients. They will work as an autonomous, accountable practitioner, in the provision of a holistic model of care. The paramedic will assess, diagnose, treat, refer or signpost patients who attend the practice with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions.
Support the delivery of home visits to housebound patients and care home patients.
The post holder must own vehicle for home visits with expenses remunerated in overall financial package.
- Diagnose and manage both acute conditions, integrating both drug and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
- Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in emergency situations, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history.
- Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking and initiate appropriate treatment and / or referral, including admission to hospital if required.
- Signpost appropriately to other services in the identified healthcare pathway and to refer patients to appropriate care settings, within locally agreed healthcare pathways.Professional and administrative responsibilities
