Job summary

As a General Medical Practitioner, to work as an autonomous professional and an integral member of the practice team. To be responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS and all other service contracts. The post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for providing appropriate, evidence-based clinical care to patients
  • Deal with screening, prevention and chronic care issues when patients attend for acute problems
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Prescribing in accordance with accepted clinical practice and guidance
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Home visits
  • Undertake triage and duty doctor roles
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through practice, local and national clinical guidelines.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or QOF
  • Record all data on the clinical system
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self-learning
  • Support the training of medical students
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

About us

We are a 2 site GMS practice in Ashtead and Leatherhead in Surrey, with 10 partners and approximately 70 staff, our multi-disciplinary team including 7 Associate GPs, GPwSIs, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Specialist Diabetic Nurses and Sonographers. Serving approx 21,000 patients. We have close links and are an active member of our Leatherhead Primary Care Network and GP Health Partners.

As a long-established training / mentoring practice, there is a strong ethos of investing in continued personal development for each individual member of our team and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ambitions and aspirations at interview.

We offer a competitive salary/benefits package:

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata (plus bank holidays)
  • One weeks Study Leave pro rata

  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
