Job summary

We are looking to appoint a part-time medical administrator/receptionist between 20 - 24 hrs per week. Must have worked in General Practice You need to be flexible and work morning and afternoon shifts.Working hours are between 8am and 6.30pm.

Main duties of the job

Candidates must have experience in experience in scanning patient letters, read coding and referral management.

Have excellent communication skills, this role has a lot of contact with patients both face to face and via the telephone. The ability to work under pressure is essential and at a fast pace.

About us

The surgery has 3 GP partners,2 salaried GP'S, Practice Nurse and a Healthcare Assistant. We have a team of administration staff supporting the Practice Manager. The surgery is a training practice.

Job responsibilities Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone and in person. Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail Registrations of new patients Taking messages and passing on information Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.

Deal with visits requests Computer data entry update /data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, read coding. Keeping the reception area, tidy and free from obstructions and clutter To collect and process repeat prescription requests from various sources. To provide an efficient word processing service for the GPs and other health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, etc. in an accurate and quality manner. Complete general administrative duties as directed and assisting with Quality Outcomes Framework and any other Primary Care network tasks as needed.

Ensure incoming letters are scanned onto the patient record within a 48/72 hour timescale and dealt with accordingly Scan all internal paper documents on to the relevant patients record and then store the documents in line with surgery procedures. Access and process communications via NHS net Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patients medical history. Read coding the information into the practice clinical system Process GDPR requests Other duties applicable to the post.
