Job summary
We are
currently seeking a capable, enthusiastic, and committed Clinical coding & Workflow administrator to
join our hardworking and friendly administrative team for up to 25 hours a week. We require an individual who is keen
to work in a person-centred way with patients and colleagues to improve records and services to patients.
This role is also dynamic, multifaceted, and always evolving to provide streamlined administrative support for the practice
team in delivering practice outcomes. While prior experience with SystmOne and the NHS is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
Main duties of the job
The
role will require strong administrative skills and a capability to quickly
learn a good working knowledge of SystmOne.
The
main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to summarise and read code
relevant information from patients clinical records into the practice computer
system, working in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol. You
will assist the GPs with the flow of correspondence that comes into the
practice, including hospital letters, reports, and patient communications.
The
role will also include checking coding on patient medical records fulfils
contractual obligations. For example, PCN, QOF and other summarising tasks as required.
Experience
in medical terminology, clinical coding and summarising is desirable.

The role will require a good working knowledge of SystmOne in order to be able to set up and run SystmOne searches to identify the patient cohorts, as directed by the clinicians.
Developing an understanding of the Quality Outcome Framework (QOF) and Investment and Impact Fund (IIF) to ensure clinical coding is completed and support the team in achieving targets.
Keeping records of the NHS Digital Flag and Reasonable Communication Adjustments required by patients with Learning Disabilities, Autism or other Disabilities. This may include person-centred conversations with the individual to understand their needs.
Support the administration of Safeguarding and incoming correspondence.
Reorganising and summarising patient records and letters in preparation for summarising
Review medical records and produce an accurate summary of patients medical history
Identify the higher risk areas that require input or knowledge from the clinical team, including safeguarding issues.
Identify and refer any clinical actions to the GPs
Read coding clinical information into the practice clinical system
Monitoring patient call and recall systems
The ideal candidate will have excellent computer skills, be methodical and organised, have the ability to work at a fast pace whilst maintaining attention to detail and work well in a team.
