Job summary
We are a well-established training practice looking
for an enthusiastic, self-motivated practice nurse to join our existing
fantastic team of 3 practice nurses and 2 HCAs to help care for our vibrant and
diverse local population of 12,700 patients. Mentoring and support will
be provided.
Experience in primary care is essential. The ideal
candidate will have experience in some of: Chronic Disease Management, Cervical
Screening, Infection Control, Child Immunisations, Travel Health and Sexual and
reproductive health/contraception.Knowledge of EMIS Web computer
system would be an advantage but not essential. Parking space can be provided
if required. We are very close to Kings Cross station.
Main duties of the job
Meeting
patients nursing care needs as identified, or where care has been transferred
to them by a GP. This will usually be in the practice, but occasional home
visits will also be required.
Initiating
and maintaining health screening and promotion clinics for identified areas of
the practice population, recognising where modification of systems or referral
is necessary.
The
following clinics are offered at Killick Street Health Centre by the Practice
Nursing Team: Asthma
/ COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular
Disease, Cervical
Smears, Family Planning
Amending
or adding to services as needs are identified
Routine
Treatment Room skills, including: Wound Management: Undertake dressings and Suture and clip
removal
Screening: including BP checks, height, and weight, BMI,
urinalysis, smoking status.
Health Promotion: Make basic assessment of needs of patients and
provide nutritional advice
Offer lifestyle advice on smoking and
exercise and refer as appropriate
Infection Control:
Emergency Management: To be competent
in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques
Womens Health: have a working
knowledge of the national and local Cervical Cytology and mammography screening
programmes
Assist in clinical audit and the
setting up and monitoring of standards of care.
Maintain continuous professional
development in keeping with the requirements of the practice.

building in the heart of vibrant Kings Cross. Were a stones throw from the
largest regeneration project in Europe and minutes away from Eurostar. We are a diverse clinical team made up of doctors,
Registrars, F2s, Nurses, Pharmacists, PA, Physiotherapist, Paramedic and HCAs. We have a large administration team to
provide support for all clinicians. We
serve a very diverse patient population of more than 13,000 patients and we
have great links to the community via our PPG and other local community groups.
