Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Salaried General Practitioner to join our team and help us deliver excellent primary care. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload and provide care to patients with both acute and long-term conditions.

You will play a key role in supporting patients health and wellbeing, contributing to quality improvement, clinical governance, and the ongoing development of our services.

Main duties of the job

  • The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of core duties including surgery consultations, telephone and video consultations and patient queries.
  • Other workload may involve visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, reviewing test results, and managing correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care professionals within the organisation.
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients, and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop personalised care plans and management strategies.
  • Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Collect data for audit purposes, and support practice participation in Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and Enhanced Services.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated prescriptions in accordance with best practice guidance.
  • Support continuity of care through teamwork, and effective communication.
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
