Job summary

The role is intended to provide a venepuncture service to Patients of the E4 Network Network. This includes patients who can attend a clinic and also those who are housebound.

The Phlebotomist will work under the direction of the Clinical Director & the Network Service Delivery Team who will ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment for service users

Main duties of the job

To collect blood samples from patients using Vacutainer or Butterfly methods, ensuring that the correct colour bottles are used for each sample.

To collect blood samples from all allocated Housebound patients using Butterfly or Vacutainer methods, ensuring the correct colour bottles are used for each sample

To correctly label all samples once taken and package them in the appropriate manner ready for transportation to the laboratory

To transport blood samples to the laboratory if and when required

To complete the NEL blood collection template detailing the samples collected from each patient

Our Primary Care Network (PCN) has a population of over 51,000 people in Chingford, London.

The E4 Primary Care Network Ltd. includes Chingford Medical Centre, Churchill Medical Practice, The Old Church Surgery, The Ridgeway Surgery and Handsworth Medical Practice. The practices have a very strong relationship with one another.

We have an interesting and diverse population, ranging from the young to the elderly. We also support over 300 residents who are living in local Care Homes.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
  • NVQ Level 2 Equivalent
  • Venepuncture (accredited qualification)

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Care Certificate

Experience

  • Recent and relevant experience of working within a venepuncture service for at least 12 months.
