Job summary

The ideal candidate will form part of a very friendly, supportive, and dedicated team, much loved by the local community, working in a village dispensing practice on the outskirts of Maidstone. The role involves meeting and greeting patients, handing out medications, and providing a friendly, professional service at all times. This is a 16-hour role and would suit a school leaver or someone seeking part-time work.

Main duties of the job

Dispensary Duties

  • Bagging medications once all checks have been completed

  • Ensuring patients sign prescriptions and collecting charges where required

  • Recording private prescriptions and collecting specified charges

  • Answering telephone calls and passing on messages as appropriate

  • Dealing with problems, queries, and enquiries in a professional manner

  • Maintaining efficient stock rotation

  • Fully observing all legal requirements relevant to a dispensing practice, including Health Authority regulations and controlled drugs

  • Ensuring the dispensary is kept clean and tidy at all times

  • Carrying out any other duties appropriate to the role and level, as required

  • Working flexibly within the team and providing cover where necessary

  • Assisting in ensuring maximum profit is maintained and losses are kept to a minimum

  • Safely disposing of patient-returned medications using the correct disposal procedures

The village is an area of outstanding beauty, with vast areas of countryside and historic landmarks, but is also well connected to larger towns and cities via public transport.
