Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Minor Illness Nurse to provide high-quality clinical care for patients with a wide range of minor illnesses, ensuring they receive appropriate advice, treatment, and support.

This role will involve working between 24 and 37.5 hours per week depending on candidate preferences.

Main duties of the job

Your primary care will be in assessing and treating patients presenting with minor illness symptoms.

The Minor Illness Nurse works independently but is well supported by GPs, Nurse Practitioners and other health care professionals to deliver excellent patient care and promote patient wellbeing

About us

We are a semi-rural dispensing practice situated in the market town of Driffield. We are an established training practice of GPs, ANPs, Foundation doctors and Medical Students. We have a wide skill mix within our practice team and are enthusiastic about upskilling our staff to enhance patient care.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will

Assess and manage patients with minor illnesses at the surgery and in local care homes providing effective treatment and advice.

Provide health education and advice to patients, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care

Advise and prescribe (if qualified to do so) on evidence-based treatment for minor illness conditions

Make any necessary referrals to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary and with clinical support from the supervising GP.

Work autonomously and as part of a team to deliver patient care in line with best practice guidelines and clinical protocols

The ideal candidate will support the practice team with chronic disease management, wound care, spirometry, health promotion, vaccination and screening activities.

Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all relevant healthcare regulation

Participate in continuous professional development and keep up to date with changes in clinical practice
