Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician? Do you want to work in a multi award-winning GP Practice based in Londons most popular suburbs?

The Richmond Road Partnership are looking to recruit a skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our award-winning practices based in Hackney and Wanstead.

You will work closely with our Lead GP and Clinical Pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients. In addition, you will provide technical and administrative support to the Clinical Pharmacists and Clinicians as well as coordinating discharge summaries and medication reviews, playing a central role in repeat prescribing processes, liaising with our patients, carers, hospital and community pharmacies, responding to medication queries and updating medical records.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrate management control of the surgery repeat prescribing system and ensure tight control of prescribing processes
  • Ensure reduced spend and prevent medicines waste
  • Support High Risk Drug monitoring protocol of the practice
  • Ensure Administrative work is completed in order to achieve and implement prescribing initiatives
  • Be a reliable, trained and informed resource to answer medicines related administrative queries
  • Promote better use of medicines in conjunction with the Medicines Management (MM)Team, and aid in improving patient information
  • Supervise train and update practice receptionists dealing with all aspects of repeat prescribing, making the best use of their skills
  • Supports the checking of competency of the above staff on an annual basis
  • Become a point of contact within and outside the surgery for all who deal with medicines related issues
  • To develop effective relationships with local Community Pharmacies in relation to medicines management (measured by increased quality of liaison)

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmacy services
  • Accredited Checking Technician
  • Minimum 3 year experience in a hospital, community or primary care pharmacy
  • Experience with clinical computing systems.
  • Experience with basic clinical information.
  • Experience of working in a constantly changing environment.
  • Computer literate: able to work with Word/Excel and e-mail.
  • Methodical approach. Attention to detail in the compiling and verification of data.

Desirable

  • Enrolled in, undertaking or qualified from, an approved training pathway. For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH).
  • Sound knowledge/Experience of working in a GP Practice.
  • EMIS user skills
  • Understanding of QOF
