HOURS: Up to 37 hours per week
Job summary:
The practice nurse will work as part of the primary
healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of the practice,
enhancing and developing nursing services within
the practice.
The
Nurse will be responsible for their own personal
development and education including in-service training. They will recognise
and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by
the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Main duties of the job
The nurse will be committed to improve standards of care and be involved in identifying practice population needs. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to undertake any further training required to ensure appropriate role development.
Skills required but not limited to:
Chronic Disease management, Cervical Screening, Family Planning, Immunisations including childhood working within PGD guidelines

Great Lumley
Surgery is a semi-rural practice on the outskirts of Chester-le-Street. We serve a population of approx. 5300 patients. At present
there are 3 partners, and a part time
Salaried GP.
Medical care
at Great Lumley is centred on good teamwork and the Primary Health Care

integrated team providing high quality care to the patients that we serve and
are all highly motivated and dedicated towards achieving that aim. A sense of humour is essential. We like to think that general practice can be

- A demonstrable commitment to professional development

- Relevant nursing/health degree
- Mentor/teaching qualification
- Clinical supervision training and experience
- Diabetic certificate / Insulin initiation
- Asthma diploma
- COPD diploma
- CHD Qualification
- Cx cytology certificate
- Family planning certificate
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience
- At least 2 year recent primary and community nursing experience
- Management of long-term conditions
- Involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and determine own workload priorities
- Ability to work under pressure

- Independent Prescriber
