We are seeking a motivated and experienced Bank Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive primary care team on a flexible, as-needed basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled nurse to contribute to high-quality patient care in a general practice setting, while enjoying the flexibility of a bank role.
As a Bank Practice Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering evidence-based nursing care, supporting long-term condition management, health promotion, and routine clinical procedures. You will work collaboratively with GPs, other nurses, healthcare assistants, and wider primary care staff to ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care for our registered population.
This position is ideal for experienced nurses looking to maintain clinical practice with the flexibility to choose shifts that fit around other commitments.
Main duties of the job
The Bank Practice Nurse plays a vital role in delivering general nursing services to the patient population within the practice.
This flexible position is designed to provide cover during periods of staff absence, such as annual leave, and to support the practice during times of increased demand. The Bank Practice Nurse will work collaboratively with the GP team to maintain high standards of patient care and clinical service delivery. In addition, the Bank Practice Nurse will offer support and guidance to healthcare assistants and phlebotomists, contributing to a cohesive and efficient primary care team.

- Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- Simple and Complex dressings
- ECGs
- Venepuncture
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- Understanding the importance of evidence-based practice
- Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs
- Chaperone procedure
- Womens health (cervical cytology, contraception, etc.)
- Immunisations (routine, childhood, flu and B12)
- Chronic disease management in diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, chronic kidney disease, asthma, COPD, cardiovascular disease, mental health, dementia, stroke/TIA, learning disabilities
