Job summary

Minimum of 1 year Emis experience in a GP surgery required.

We are currently looking for someone with similar values to join our team of receptionists.You must have an excellent telephone manner, good communication skills and ability to deal with patients in a courteous and professional manner. You will be the first point of contact for our patients and will be required to meet the standards of care and service we pride ourselves on.

TITLE: GP Receptionist/ Telephonist

BASE: Bounds Green Group Practice

Job Summary

The Post Holder will be, together with the other members of the reception and administration team, responsible for the interface between the Practice and the general public, particularly the patients/clients of the practice both in person and on the telephone.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. To manage telephone calls, ensuring that callers are answered courteously, promptly and clearly and that messages are always passed on to an appropriate person
  2. To receive and direct patients and visitors to the Practice, promptly and courteously, ensuring that accurate information is supplied.
  3. To be responsible, together with the other members of the reception team for the appointments systems including the clerical elements Opening and re directing incoming post, franking outgoing post. Filing notes, retrieving notes, administering repeat prescribing, registering patients, scanning letters. emailing referrals .
  4. To be aware of the Practice Policies on confidentiality, disclosure of information and recording systems both manually and computerised.
  5. To ensure that the reception area and consulting rooms are always kept tidy and free from hazards and maintained in accordance with Practice Policies.
  6. To deal with delegated tasks efficiently, according to guidelines set, and reporting regularly any problems and targets reached as required.
  7. To be aware of the practice philosophy and to treat patients/ visitors with respect, and tolerance and offer constructive support to colleagues and general public..
  8. To work flexibly according to the needs of the Practice and provide cover for absent colleagues.
  9. Any other duties, appropriate to the grade, as required by the Practice Manager/ Reception Manager.
  10. To support the Practice.
