Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Treatment Room Nurse to join our high achieving PMS practice based in Yeovil town centre.

The practice is forward thinking and we have just over 10,500 patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, dynamic Nurse to join our friendly nursing team. We are able to offer 24 hours initially although there maybe scope to increase that to 32 hours per week.

Some recent experience within a Primary Care Setting is desirable, but it is important to us that any applicant is adaptable, highly motivated, relishes a challenge and wants to develop an ongoing career in Primary Care. You will be working alongside 4 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, a number of GP trainees and 1 Clinical Pharmacist. Our nursing team consists of 2 chronic disease practice nurses, one of which is our Nurse Manager and one other treatment room nurse. Our clinical investigation hub, run by our Primary Care Network team, offers us additional capacity for much of our HCA level work.

The post holder will be expected to run a full Nurse clinic, demonstrating competence across a broad range of treatment room skills and supporting the wider practice team in providing high-quality, patient-centred care.

Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience and qualification.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care

    Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with acute and long-term conditions

    Provide timely nursing interventions and prioritise care

    Use clinical judgement to make safe decisions in line with scope of practice and practice policies

    Undertake health promotion and opportunistic screening

    Provide patient education and guidance on medication regimes, side effects and self-management where appropriate.

    Support the delivery of recall, surveillance, and screening programmes

    Accurately document all consultations using the practice clinical system and templates.

    The post holder will deliver some or all of the following:

    Wound assessment and care, dressings and post-operative care

    Leg ulcer management

    Urinalysis

    Contraceptive advice, sexual health support

    Cervical cytology (if qualified)

    INR/Warfarin monitoring

    ECG recording

    Phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, weight checks

    Immunisations and vaccinations (childhood, seasonal, adult, travel if applicable)

    Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections (e.g., B12, Zoladex, Triptorelin, Depo)

    Assistance with procedures such as coil removal, contraceptive implants or minor surgery

    Stock control, cold chain management and vaccine ordering

About us

We have a friendly nursing team operating out of purpose built premises in Yeovil town centre. Parking is available on site. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything that we do and we are a high achieving QOF practice. We have a Nurse Manager in post to support the team and they hold weekly team meetings. We also work closely with the other four practices in Yeovil through our membership of Yeovil Primary Care Network and this close and collaborative working has been a great advantage to us all.
