Portsdown Group
Practice is a friendly, innovative, and well-established GP Practice supporting
approximately 63,000 patients, currently across 6 sites in the Portsmouth area.
We are currently looking for a highly motivated phlebotomist to join our diverse and
growing team. Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable, but not essential,
as training will be provided. There will be the opportunity to undertake
training to become a part of the team undertaking our flu campaign. If you can work to high standards, are
flexible and reliable, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
coupled with the ability to deliver a high quality of care, we would like to
hear from you.
About us
Portsdown Group Practice covers the
whole of Portsmouth from postcodes PO1 to PO7.
We operate from 6 surgeries: Cosham Park House (PO6 3BG), Crookhorn Lane
(PO7 5XP), Heyward Road (PO4 0DY), Kingston Crescent (PO2 8AL), Paulsgrove (PO6
4HJ) and Somerstown (PO5 4EZ).
We are our own Primary Care Network
(PCN). We have Clinical Partners, Salaried GPs and a comprehensive Nursing and
extended clinical team overseen by our Clinical Team Manager. The team consists of Nurse / Paramedic
Practitioners, Registered Nurses, HCAs, MSK Physiotherapists, Podiatrist,
Dietitians, Social Prescribers and Care Co-ordinators. The Pharmacy team
consists of Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
The Practice is well established,
financially secure and successful.

Job responsibilities
To
provide Phlebotomy services to the Practice population. Supported by the
nursing team within the Practice, the Phlebotomist will deliver a phlebotomy
service within the boundaries of their role and in accordance with specific Practice
guidelines and protocols. Responsible for the phlebotomy service delivered,
demonstrating critical thinking and skills in phlebotomy, within the parameters
of their qualifications and role requirements. They will focus upon providing a
safe phlebotomy service, supporting patients, taking routine blood tests from
different age groups, as requested by clinicians, maintaining clinically
accurate records and managing own phlebotomy clinics. They will work
collaboratively with the general Practice team to meet the needs of patients
and support the delivery of policy and procedures and providing phlebotomy
guidance as required. Training will be provided to become a part of our flu
campaign, delivering flu vaccinations to our Practice population.
