Job summary

Following the release of ARRS GP information and funding, Midlands Medical Partnership is excited to offer this opportunity to a newly qualified GP (within 2 years and not having previously held a substantive GP post) to join Midlands Medical Partnership on a fixed term salaried contract across MMP sites. We will consider applications for up to 9 sessions with a start date as soon as possible.

Midlands Medical Partnership is a partnership of 15 GP Partners, which provides NHS GP services to approximately 72,000 patients through one individual GP practice operating from twelve surgeries across Birmingham. The vision behind the creation of MMP is to improve and develop all that is excellent about traditional GP services local GPs leading and working in local surgeries to provide long-term doctor/patient relationships based on the established values of trust and personalised care, whilst at the same time being part of a larger, more corporate business structure, allowing our practices and patients to benefit from the resources of a larger organisation, enabling us to improve the range and quality of patient services, improve access and patient responsiveness and improve learning across our organisation. MMPs core purpose is to work within a culture of quality to constantly improve the care and service we give our patients.

Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting for a Salaried GP working at various MMP surgeries

A session for a SGP is 4 hours and 10 minutes in duration and will include the following components:

Approximately 3.5 hours of patient contact per session which may include face to face appointments, home visits and telephone appointments. All surgeries operate a 10 minute appointment system for face to face routine consultations and 5 minute appointments for telephone contact and urgent appointments.

40 minutes per session is dedicated to administration to include correspondence, blood results, repeat prescriptions, reports and QoF, in accordance with the needs of the patients. This list is not intended to be exhaustive but is representative of usual administration.

SGPs in MMP are expected to be on call on a local surgery rota basis. When undertaking on call duties, the surgery management team will make adjustments to the usual duties on that day accordingly. The same will apply when undertaking telephone triage during sessions.

Surgery start and finish times are to be locally agreed with SGPs and surgery management.

This job plan may require a review in accordance with changes to the needs of the organisation or its patients from time-to-time.
