Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Infection Prevention and Control Assistant to join Marisco on a part-time basis, working fifteen hours over three days.

The sucessful applicant will be responsible to the IPC Lead in driving the national infection prevention and control agenda forward to continue to maintain high standards of practice at Marisco Medical Practice.

Main duties of the job

To help prevent and identify the spread of infectious agents, like bacteria and viruses ina healthcare environment. To be meticulous and detail-orientated, and effectively communicate best practices to all staff to ensure the safety of patients in a primary care setting.

The role will require relationship building, acting as an IPC role model and ensuring best practice.

This will involve working with the IPC Lead completing audits in clinical and non clinical areas, administration and fridge monitorising monitoring.

We are a busy, supportive, friendly practice (14,000+ patients) located on the East Coast of Lincolnshire over two sites, in Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea, and are part of a Primary Care Network.

The clinical team consists of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a Pharmacist, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.

To be meticulous and detail-oriented, and effectively communicate best practices to all practice staff to ensure the safety of patients in a primary care setting. Their knowledge of the risks of various infectious agents is crucial when dealing with both contained infections and broader outbreaks.

To ensure that staff and patients are adhering to Marisco Medical Practice IPC policies and protocols and to report to the IPC Head of department any concerns they have identified.

To ensure enquires are promptly, efficiently and courteously handled, documents are filed and recorded accurately. The working areas are kept tidy.

Provide general assistance in a positive and friendly manner to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To work ensuring that key legislative principles are followed including:-

1. Records Management Code of Conduct

2. CQC Regulations

3. NHSE Contractual Obligations

4. Practice policies and protocols

GENERAL

To work within the guidelines and policies of the Practice

  • To ensure that statutory requirements are met at all times and to implement practice policies, as directed by the Practice Management

This includes the reduction of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) in line with the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (2015), Code of Practice for the Prevention and Control of Health Care Associated Infections and driving the delivery of continuous sustainable improvements in the standards of infection control across the system.
