Swanley Medical Practice is looking for an additional Physician
Associate to work alongside its existing 5 PAs and the wider clinical team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly
motivated PA to join our well-established, friendly and high achieving GMS
practice in Swanley to deliver excellent service to our patients
Main duties of the job
To provide care for patients through clinical assessment,
examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care.
To review, analyse and action diagnostic test results.
Provide health/disease promotion and prevention advice to
patients.
To deliver a high standard of patient care using in depth
theoretical knowledge under the supervision of a GP. Utilise clinical
guidelines and promote evidence-based practice, participate in clinical audits,
significant event reviews and other research and analysis tasks.
Good working relationship with named clinical supervisor and work
together to provide high standards of holistic care for patients.

Doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates, Clinical
Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, Phlebotomists and HCAs looking after over 25,000
patients backed up by a supportive Reception and Administration team.
We are a high achieving, training practice with a GOOD CQC rating.
We are a GP-led, patient centred surgery with emphasis on innovation and
nurturing talent, we encourage and support training in all areas.
Currently all our PAs have specialised responsibilities or are
working towards this for example Clinical QOF, safeguarding, care homes,
ADHD/ASD, gynaecology, CVD prevent.
Swanley has easy access to the A2 and the M25, M20 and A20 via
Junction 3 of the M25. Swanley Train Station is a 10 minute walk from the
practice.

Ensure continuing education, training and development is
undertaken to meet clinical governance guidelines for Continuing Professional
Development and a Personal Development Plan. To maintain and develop
professional competence and expertise, keep up to date with medical/therapeutic
evidence and opinion, relevant medical research and local and national service,
legislation and policy developments, technology and evidence based medical
practice by attending continuing education courses and professional meetings,
reading journals e.t.c
Perform a variety of research and analysis tasks associated with
improvement of clinical care, medical diagnosis and treatment where appropriate
using the following means:
Audit of clinical practice, review of relevant literature,
research unusual symptoms and treatment options through consultation with
physicians and other medical specialists.
Attend regular multi-disciplinary meetings organised by the
Practice in order to discuss the health and social needs of particular patients,
to discuss and learn from recent significant events relating to the clinical
practice occurring within the Practice.
Attend regular educational meetings organised by the practice in
order to update clinical knowledge, practice policy and guidelines and
disseminate other useful information relevant to the provision of adequate
healthcare for patients.
Regularly reflect on own practice (and keep a record of learning
encounters) in order to identify learning needs and encourage self-directed
lifelong learning and continued professional development.
Show a caring attitude towards patients, have well-developed
communication skills to provide treatment plans. And work to their professional
code of ethics.
Work to deliver with other members of the practice and Primary
Healthcare Team, the objectives of the PCN GP contract, including the terms of
the Quality and Outcomes Framework and Practice Based Commissioning.

- In the UK, physician associates must hold a postgraduate diploma or higher in Physician Associate Studies, preferably a Masters of Science.
- Undertake 50 hours of continuing medical education (CPD) every year.
- Be fully registered and in good standing with the physician associate regulatory body the General Medical Council (GMC).
- All employees should understand that it is their personal responsibility to comply with all organisational and statutory requirements (e.g health and safety, equal treatment and diversity, confidentiality and clinical governance).
- Physician Associates must comply with the Code of Professional Conduct set by the General Medical Council towards the key areas like professionalism, knowledge skills, risk analysis and communication and to the Practices Code of Conduct.
