Job responsibilities
4 -6 Session Salaried GP required!
At Steyning Medical
Practice, we can offer something different.
We
are looking for another salaried GP - permanent or a fixed term contract of 6 months to add our existing
clinical team at our busy and friendly GP practice in the beautiful historic
village of Steyning, a pretty village at the foot of the
South Downs national park with easy access to Brighton and Worthing on the south coast
The
practice has 12,000 patients and works from an outstanding modern, purpose-built
health centre (with air con!) and one branch surgery in a neighbouring village
of Upper Beeding. We are a Practice of 5
GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 2 ANPS , 1 FCP and one Paramedic Practitioner as well as
an incredible team of Nurses, HCAs, Admin, Secretaries and Receptionists. We
are members of an active PCN with three other Practices in the Chanctonbury
locality.
We are
looking to add to our already strong clinical team and are looking for 4-6 session salaried GP. We are well staffed clinically but want to provide more
flexibility and cover to our team as well as future proofing for whatever is
thrown at us next. We are flexible on hours and try to be as family friendly as
possible and we welcome experienced applicants wishing to work full time or
part time. We are willing to support any
training needs and specialist interests that you may want to acquire during
your career, whether it be family planning, microsuction, minor surgery,
becoming a GP Trainer or any other specialist area of interest you may have or
want to develop. We have previously been a training practice and would love to
become one again. We are a GMS practice and will offer the standard BMA
Salaried GP contract as minimum, as well as providing competitive pay scales
which we review yearly and as a bare minimum, offer the yearly DDRB pay uplift.
We have 15-minute appointments as standard and a maximum of 25 appointments a
day for non-duty days, plus admin time, whether they be for telephone, face to
face or on the day appointments. Our Duty team consisting of a Duty Doc,
Paramedic Practitioner and ANP who manage all the on the day demand, usually
with a telephone triage system to ensure patients get seen quickly and by the
most appropriate person. This allows us to structure our workdays fairly and
with a huge amount of flexibility built in, so they are not too overwhelming.
The job
itself is pretty much the same as any other GP role with endless patients, constant
demands and complex medicine interspersed with the weird and wonderful.
However, we try our hardest at Steyning to make it as fun and supportive as
possible and to make everyone feel like they are part of the team and limit workload.
General Practice can be a lonely job and it is easy to feel isolated and
overwhelmed at times, something we are acutely aware of as Partners. We cant
change the current issues in the NHS and in General Practice, but what we can
do is make the job fun, collaborative and as supportive as possible. As a rule,
everyone's doors are open and we regularly wander in and out of each others
room to ask advice, have a chat or a moan or just a general catch up on the day.
There is usually a supply of sweets hidden in the doctors cupboard and a
frequent supply of doughnuts in the staff kitchen. There is a summer BBQ every
July, which all staff and their families are invited to, and a staff only Xmas
do as well as other events throughout the year
If you are
interested in applying, please either send a covering letter and CV for the
attention of Sheila.lidbetter sxicb-wsx.steyningmanager@nhs.net. We are happy to arrange a
tour of the premises and or a meeting with the team if you have any questions.
We seek someone who is of course committed to patient care, calm
in times of stress with excellent clinical skills, but who also fits in with
the camaraderie of our clinical team. If this is you, please get in touch.
