Job summary
We are looking for a friendly
and enthusiastic person to join our team as a GP receptionist/care co-ordinator at
our busy GP Surgery.
We have a welcoming and
supportive team of clinicians and admin staff.
The ideal candidate must have
previous experience of working in a GP practice. They will fit into the existing reception
team and support the clinicians and colleagues.
The candidate must be able to work on a rotational basis
between the hours of 8.00am 6.30pm Monday to Friday.We will consider full or part-time hours for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
- Offer assistance to the team and project a positive image to visitors, either in person, online or on the telephone.
- Assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service and/or healthcare professional in a courteous and efficient way.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties in the smooth running of the practice.
- Processing/issuing of prescriptions.
- Maintaining our appointment system.
- Processing requests for appointments, visits and consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate professional.
- Processing/distributing mail.
- Various administrative duties - scanning, read coding, completing tasks and summarising patient records.
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation.
- Initiating contact with/responding to requests from patients.

Supported by 1 GP partner, 1 Salaried GP, a Practice Clinical
Pharmacist, 1 Long term Locum Paramedic Practitioner, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 GP
Assistant, Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager, Practice Secretary and
a full compliment of administrative staff and PCN staff. We believe in offering

Principle Purpose:
To work as part of a team and contribute towards the smooth and efficient running of the practice.
Summary Of Main Duties:
To provide efficient, helpful receptionist and clerical services to the practice by carrying out duties in connection with the running of the surgery as detailed below:-
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Receiving patients and visitors courteously and efficiently.
- Make appointments for doctor, practice nurse, etc.
- Extracting and filing records as and when required
- Answering the telephone, taking messages and passing them on appropriately.
- Take requests for home visits and ensure they are noted and passed onto appropriate doctor.
- Dealing with patient recalls
- Dealing with GP actions for all Lab tests
- Sorting and distributing incoming mail, ensuring individual correspondence is dealt with
- Dealing appropriately with outgoing mail.
- Liaise with outside agencies i.e. hospital, chemists, health authorities etc
- Computer data entry updating patient records.
- Scanning, and filing, patient letters on to patient computer record.
- Working on a rota system to provide cover for surgeries.
- To keep a check on surgery supplies and equipment and order or inform office manager accordingly.
- Training which may be appropriate to your grade/position.
- To undertake other delegated duties considered appropriate to grade.
- House - Keeping duties: (Tea, Coffee for doctor and colleagues, keeping work station and reception office tidy at all times)
