Job summary

**15 Hours a week**

We are seeking to appoint a new Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be well motivated and enthusiastic and have excellent customer service, communication and problem-solving skills. Previous NHS reception experience would be an advantage as well as knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system.

Main Responsibilities

Reception of Visitors to Practice. Provide Administrative Support to the Clinical Staff

Such duties will include:

Presenting a welcoming atmosphere for all incomers to the practice

Receiving and directing all visitors to the practice

Providing patients with information on opening hours, clinic hours and notice/waiting periods for prescriptions, test results etc.

Implementing Practice protocols

Taking and relaying message

Arranging patients appointments for general clinics

Opening and distributing post

Scanning and filing electronic documents

General filing & shredding

Receiving payments for private appointments/procedures

Main duties of the job

waitingRoom Management

Ensuring adequate heating and light in waiting room

Checking cleanliness before and after surgery sessions

Following cleaning protocol for toys

Removing dangerous, small or fabric toys

Maintaining patient information folder

Keeping surgery details up-to-date on information boards/screen

Maintaining supply of leaflets

Information Management & Technology

Using the clinical system

Issuing prescriptions

Registering patients

Data entry

Running the appointment system

Use of practice programmes

Email communication

Researching information on the internet

Stock Control

Maintaining adequate stationery stocks in Reception and in all clinical rooms

Dispensing

Picking, scanning and labelling drugs for GPs to counter-sign

Checking medication dispensed

Bagging and distributing dispensed medications

Handing out bagged-up medications

Ensuring patient makes appropriate exemption declaration on reverse of FP10 and follow Prescription Pricing Authority guidelines for monitoring of these declarations

Receiving payments for prescriptions

Patient Education

Informing patients of changes in presentation of medication

Ensuring patients aware of drug interactions, ie oral contraceptives & antibiotics

Prescription Management

Sorting, counting, checking and endorsing FP10s in line with PPA guidelines

Checking endorsement of pack size and specific drug names

Checking exemption declarations

Compliance

We are a busy GP Practice, located rurally in North Yorkshire. Our Patient list size is of around 1700 patients currently. We have a team of 3 GPs, 3 Nurses, 1HCA and 4 admin.
