Job summary
We are seeking a Part-Time Dispenser to join our dispensing team to provide quick, efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to patients. The position is for 20 hours a week, covering Wednesday morning, all day Thursdays and a Friday afternoon.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified dispenser and will assist in dispensing medications, provide excellent customer service, and support dispensary operations. Prior experience as a GP dispenser and knowledge of medication administration are highly desirable, as is a commitment to patient safety and care.
About us
We are a friendly rural dispensing practice with a patient list size of 4,300 and increasing.
Our clinical team consists of 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, 2 Practice Nurses, a HCA and a Phlebotomist. Our clinical team is supported by a dedicated reception, dispensary and administrative team who all help ensure the smooth running of the practice.
The practice is a desirable place to work with a great team of friendly staff. There is a relaxed atmosphere at the surgery and the environment is very pleasant to work in. The practice believes in investment for development and training of our staff members.

Job responsibilities
- Dispensing medicines to patients safely and accurately
- Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol
- Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary
- Ordering, receiving and storing medication in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable
- Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medication
- Ensuring all prescriptions are processed within the time frame in accordance with the practice policy
- Providing patients with advice regarding prescription matters and dealing with problems and enquiries
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient environment
