Job summary

The Partners of Brackley Medical Centre invite applications to the role of Practice Manager. We are seeking a motivated individual who will embody our core values of quality, innovation, integrity and compassion, and with proven experience in management, and ideally in healthcare systems.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to lead the operational and strategic management of the practice. This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Partners, PCN and wider team to ensure the practice continues our mission to deliver high-quality, safe and personalised care in a supportive and innovative environment, while supporting and developing our staff to reach their full potential.

Operating from a state-of-the-art new building, the practice delivers a wide range of community services and is proud to be at the centre of integrated, forward-thinking primary care.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Management

Provide leadership and operational oversight to ensure the smooth and effective running of the practice.

Support the GP Partners in the development and delivery of the practices strategic objectives.

Contribute to PCN initiatives and collaborative working across the wider system.

Lead service development, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Human Resources and Workforce Management

Lead all HR functions, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, NHS guidance and best practice.

Develop and implement robust HR policies and procedures.

Lead workforce planning, training and staff development to support succession planning and service sustainability.

Foster a positive organisational culture that supports staff wellbeing, engagement and professional development.

Ensure appropriate appraisal systems and learning frameworks are in place.

Finance and Contract Management

Ensure effective management of NHS contracts, PCN funding and enhanced services.

Work with accountants and external advisors to ensure financial compliance and value for money.

Explore and develop opportunities for the commercial use of the practice building, in line with NHS guidance and practice objectives.

Manage and maintain contracts with external providers, including NHFT

Governance, Compliance and Risk

Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, NHS contractual requirements, information governance and health & safety legislation.

Lead on clinical and corporate governance systems, including complaints, risk management and incident reporting.

Maintain policies, procedures and assurance frameworks.

Estates, IT and Operational Management

Oversee the management of the practice premises, ensuring a safe and effective environment for patients and staff.

Work collaboratively with the existing Finance, Administration and IT Managers to ensure effective operational delivery.

Manage external suppliers and service contracts.
