We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our Patient Services team at Brackley Medical Centre.
Our practice is part of a new purpose built site with a Community Hospital, other secondary care clinics and private health related businesses, serving our community. Our Reception Team are the heart of our building.
We have over 16,200 patients with a dedicated team of 5 GP partners, 5 salaried GP's, 4 Nurses, 4 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 5 Health Care Assistants, physiotherapists, Clinical Pharmacists and a variety of Health & Wellbeing Practitioners, alongside skilled Medical Secretaries and administrative staff.
We are a teaching practice with students and participate in Research.
Main duties of the job
The primary focus of the role is to receive, assist, and direct patients (care navigation) in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. This will include working on the reception desk, on the telephone or working directly with a GP.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
This role is for an average of 30 hours and 40 minutes per week with the following shifts:
Monday 0800-1830 hrs
Tuesday 1400-2000 hrs
Wednesday 0800-1300 hrs
Thursday - 0800-1830 hrs
Friday0800-1830 hrs
Saturday - working 1 in 6 Saturdays 0815-1215 hrs

1.Greet patients and visitors to the practice in a friendly manner, book them in according to practice policy and direct them appropriately.2.Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and in a polite manner, document and redirect calls accordingly.3.Process appointment requests, amendments and cancellations from patients.4.Assist with the movement or cancellation of appointments due to short notice staff absence in a timely fashion, using the most appropriate method i.e. Accurx, telephone.5.Use the computerised appointment system to ensure efficiency of appointments and monitor the flow of appointments.6.Explain practice registration requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover. Ensure new patient details are entered correctly onto computer.7.Receive payments from patients for private services or deposits for equipment, as appropriate, complete documentation and issue receipts.8.Process refunds relating to returned equipment deposits.9.Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients, partners, staff and visitors via all communication methods.10.To assist with the general administration of patient records and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner.11.Record all messages carefully and accurately and send to appropriate person via the internal computer systems.12.Open in-coming mail, and give to appropriate member of staff or put for scanning/document management.13.Process prescription requests in an accurate and timely manner, escalating any queries as appropriate (specific team members only).14.Assist in keeping noticeboards and reception area tidy.15.Register patients for online services and assist with any queries.16.Ensure computerised telephone system is set correctly for out of hours information.17.Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
